I am a junk artist living in the midlands - UK. I love working with papier mache and other unwanted materials to create anything I can dream up, no matter how crazy or impossible it seems.
Recycling and re-using materials is key to my work. I have always been very conscientious about recycling and find it difficult to throw things away. In the type of society we live in, I find things are rarely built to last and are discarded when they break or are no longer wanted. I feel that many people should think more creatively about the things they own, and be aware of how much waste is created by simply discarding an object without recycling it. All the things we take for granted, from paper and plastic bottles to furniture and computers, were, at some point, painstakingly designed, crafted and modified for its purpose. I feel that this aspect of humanity should be celebrated, and not taken for granted. I do believe the old Cliche - One man's junk is another man's treasure., and junk can be transformed into items of amazing potential or beauty.
